Wayne was really great - very knowledgeable and he brought along essential equipment to show us, and he gave us a wish list of 'nice to haves' too. Although it was a mixed night of cloud and a few clear patches it wasn't possible to photograph the Milky Way, but we were very able to practice what Wayne taught. Really great location too - we were able to use the church and keep warm and dry, as well as benefit from better lighting! I really enjoyed the session - I learned a lot and would recommend to anyone and everyone interested in photographing the stars or Milky Way.

Always loved visiting Whitby since I was a child. I think this stems from reading Bram Stoker's Dracula when I was young and just love the feel of the abbey and the atmosphere. The walk up to it from the harbour and the anticipation of how moody the sky could be.

I enjoy macro photography highlighting parts of everyday object wee usually overlook. In this picture, I noted the opening of the white rose petals to reveal the reds and oranges of the stamens and pistil against a golden glow formed from the light diffusing through the scene, like the opening of a painted paper fan.
